Harry's father , Carl Jaschke, and mother, Bertha Sharman and his family were from a family of Silesian immigrants who were predominantly farmers and tailors that migrated to Texas in 1871. Harry was named after his Uncle Harry Sharman who perished in the bombing of the USS Liscome Bay in 1943. Harry's mother Bertha Edith was the daughter of Milfred Van Sharman, and Jessie Jacinto Riggs Sharman. Jessie Riggs was from a family of Scottish and Irish immigrants, a very close knit family. She was second born of seven children all of whom lived to be 90 years of age or older. They were in age order: Gaston A. Riggs, Jessie J. Riggs, Ruth Riggs, Harriett E. Riggs, Pauline T. Riggs, E.
