Introduction

Businessman. Son of the founder of the Firestone Tire and Rubber Company, he served the company for half a century. As chief executive officer from 1946 until 1963, he saw Firestone's sales doubled to $1.3 billion, with 121 plants and facilities in 29 countries. He was the author of "Man On The Move: The Story of Transportation," published in 1967.
