Add Memories, Stories & Photos about Harvey

Harvey T Langabeer II was a straight forward working man that held high values on family, faith and working. He cherished his wife Mary Ellen and they were always together and happy. He lived a modest life retiring in the home he'd lived in for over fifty years on a canal in Oakdale NY. His days consisted of driving my grandma around bargain shopping in their long series of Chrysler sedans. On his spare time he enjoyed league bowling and tournament fishing with his buddies on a cruiser named Wide Open. The crew mainly targeted shark offshore trolling with rod and reel. I remember grandma communicating with him with a ham radio from her livingroom to find out when his fishing crew would be back at Montawk Pointe to weigh in their catch. We would all get into the Chrysler and head North munching on bagels with cream cheese to meet "Pop-Pop" (that's what the grand kids called him). He was an awesome grandfather and never missed a Christmas with us even though he lives a thousand miles north of us. He would show up in the Chrysler with grandma and a chiuaua with a black lawn and leaf trash bag full of the most exciting stuff we had ever seen. They must have shopped year round for Christmas and brought everyone their own thirty pound bag of stuff unwrapped and inside of a black trash bag. He was pretty manly too I remember him stumbling off our front deck into a graceful "I meant to do that" forward tumble roll back onto his feet at 75 years old. Anyway- that's how I remember my Pop Pop! I noticed his name here and felt obligated to share his memory, he'd of done the same for me. RIP Pop Pop see ya on the other side.
