  • Introduction

    Father of Leopold Guido Baar, son of Leopold and Antonie Baar, brother of Bernhard, and wife of Berta Eising, Heinrich's life was cut short after being murdered in the Holocaust by the Nazi regime at Kovno's Fort IX 1941 massacre. Heinrich lived in Munich as a successful Jewish businessman, and had a normal life up until the Nazi's took control and enacted the Nuremburg laws, changing Heinrich and his family's life until his unfortunate murder at Fort IX.

    Heinrich was born to a Jewish family from Hungary. Heinrich's father was born in Gajary and his mother was born in Veseli. Heinrich himself was born in Czechoslovakia when it was part of the Hungarian Kingdom, but after its dissolution and the creation of Czechoslovakia, Heinrich became a Czechoslovakian citizen, as was the case with his brother Bernhard.

    Heinrich, along with business partner Hermann Freitag, owned a business in Munich called Heinrich Baar & Co, which sold knitting goods to the population of Munich. The business was eventually sold off to an Aryan named Johann Steiner, where the fate of the business is unknown.
  • Personal Life & Family

    Born in Engelswald and moving all the way to Munich, where he started his own business, Heinrich had a very busy life, which was only further complicated during the Holocaust when the Nazi's began making life difficult for all Jews, which Heinrich was. The area where Heinrich and his family lived were mostly Christian, but they had lots of outside Jewish friends and regularly attended Synagogue services. Heinrich had a very basic life for the German Jew at the time, and had a very similar fate to millions of others.
