    Helen Jerena Scheidemantel Belew was born in Lenox, Mo., December 28, 1925. She married her high school sweetheart, Leland Forest Belew November 15, 1944. For many years, Mrs. Belew led Brownie and Girl Scout troops on Monte Sano Mountain. She also served the organization on a local level. Many girls benefited from her dedicated interest in their activities. She was a member of First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, in Huntsville since 1951. She was past president and an active member in the Christian Women's Fellowship. She was a longtime member of the Martha Circle and held many positions in the church. Mrs. Belew was dedicated to her friends and family. Her love of people was evident in all that she did. Family and friends will miss their friend, wife, mother, aunt, cousin, sister-in-law and grandmother. Her grandchildren were the light of her life. She is preceded in death by her mother, Clara May Stites Scheidemantel; father, Benjamin Andrew Scheidemantel; two sisters and four brothers. She is survived by her husband, Leland F. Belew; two daughters and sons-in-law, Melinda Blackman and husband, William Mack, and Melanie Brennaman and husband Walter Alan; ten grandchildren, Shea and Lindsey Brennaman, Sharon, Daisy, Leland, Michael, Christopher, James, Rebecca and Ryan Blackman, of Huntsville, and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
