    Helen married Harold Taliaferro and through their union they were blessed with three children, Tyrone Taliaferro, Harold (Peanut) Taliaferro Jr. and Dawn Taliaferro. Before departing this Earth, on May 3 1981 Dawn brought into this world Helen's first grandchild, Tashera Taliaferro.

In 1927, in the year that Helen Taliaferro was born, the first "talkie" (a movie with music, songs, and talking), The Jazz Singer, was released. Al Jolson starred as a cantor's son who instead of following in his father's footsteps as expected, becomes a singer of popular songs. Banished by his father, they reconcile on his father's deathbed. It was a tear-jerker and audiences went wild - especially when they heard the songs. Thus begun the demise of silent films and the rise of "talkies".

In 1936, Helen was just 9 years old when on November 3rd, President Franklin Delano Roosevelt was reelected to a second term. He ran against Republican Governor Alf Landon (Kansas), defeating Landon in the popular vote by 60.8% to 36.5%. Vermont and Maine were the only two states in which Landon won. John Nance Garner IV became the Vice-President in this election.
