    Longtime Chester Resident Henrietta Elizabeth Nickens, 70, of Chester, a resident of the city for most of her life, died Oct. 10 at her home. Born in Wilmington, Del., Mrs. Nickens was employed at various businesses in Chester and Delaware County. She also worked as a custodian at Scott Paper Co. in Tinicum and a monitor for Chester Housing Authority.. The daughter of the late Gilbert James Nickens and Ethel R. Govens Nickens, she was educated in Wilmington public schools. Mrs. Nickens attended St. Paul CME church and the Providence Baptist Church, both of Chester. Surviving are a son, Edward Nickens, and a daughter, Carlotta E. Nickens, both of Chester; two brothers, Elmo Nickens of New York City, N.Y., and Bernie Nickens of Gary, Ind.; two sisters, Estella Payne of Brookhaven and Roberta Stevenson of Wilmington, Del.; her stepfather, Clarence Pitts of Chester; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren and a number of other relatives. She also was the sister of the late James Nickens, Donald D. Nickens, Vera Corbin, Lavenia Nickens, Gertrude Brooks and Althea F. Nickens. The funeral service will be at noon Wednesday at the St. Paul CME Church, 1009 W. Third St., Chester, where there are calling hours from 10 a.m. to noon. Burial is in Haven Memorial Cemetery, Chester Township. The family will assemble at 320 Lloyd St., Chester. Arrangements are by the Earl L. Foster Funeral Home of Chester. -Delaware County Daily Times, 10/19/1997.
