Henry Adrian Howard 1857 - 1937

Henry Adrian Howard was born in 1857 to Hortense Eliza (Stoll) Howard and Henry Robert Howard, and had siblings Zoe Beatrice Howard, Arthur Collis Howard, Amy Octavia Edith Howard, Gertrude Howard, Maude Elizabeth Howard, Ernest James Howard, and Edith Sarah Howard. Henry Howard died at age 79 years old on May 28, 1937 in Melbourne, VIC Australia, and was buried at Kew Cemetery in Kew, Boroondara City County.

    The Argus, Melbourne. 31st January 1895. FIRE AT CANTERBURY. A six room dwelling at Cross-street, Canterbury, owned and occupied by Mr. E. Howard, was destroyed by fire at a quarter past 2 o'clock yesterday morning. The cause of the fire is unknown. The building was insured in Australian Alliance for £500, and the contents in the same company for £400. Canterbury Horticultural Society. The Argus, Melbourne. 30th August 1930. CANTERBURY FLOWER SHOW. Mr. H. A. Howard, Cooinda, 13 Cross street, Canterbury. The Age, Melbourne. 21st August 1937. Memorial to Camberwell Citizen. A meeting representative of the Canterbury Horticultural Society, Progress Association, Boy Scouts' Association, Returned Soldiers' League, and the Bowling Club was held in the Memorial Hall last night, to consider the best means do perpectuating the memory of the late Mr. H. A. Howard, who for many years was secretary of Canterbury Horticultural Society. Suggestions included the erection of a stone seat and shelter in Canterbury gardens, and the planting of 5000 flowering gums in Beckett Park, Balwyn.

    The Argus, Melbourne. 29th May 1937 HOWARD.- On the 28th May, at Royal Melbourne Hospital ( result of accident ), Henry Adrian, eldest son of the late H. R. and H. E. Howard, late of Geelong, much-loved brother of Maud, Gertrude, Ernest ( deceased ), Beatrice ( deceased ), and Amy, of 13 Cross-street, Canterbury. - He hath done what he could. Mr. H. A. Howard, of Cross street, Canterbury, died in the Royal Melbourne Hospital yesterday. He was injured when he was struck by a motor- car in Kireep road, Balwyn, on May 16. For 24 years Mr. Howard had been the secretary of the Canterbury Horticultural Society, and was known to horticulturists throughout the State. About 20 years ago he originated the "yellow box flower service," for hospitals. He was one of the oldest residents of Canterbury, and took an active part in philanthropic and charitable work.
