Henry Shaw married my grandmother Lilian Hutton prior to WWII, he was an assistant steward on the Merchant Ship Matina which was torpedoed on 26th Oct 1940 and the ship was lost with all hands. This took place 100 miles west of Rockall. My grandmother never married again. Her first husband had been torpedoed in the first world war and died of stomach cancer as a result of that in 1926. Following the loss of Henry Shaw in 1940, she suffered another grievous blow with the loss of her eldest son Hubert Hutton when the bridge of the ship in the Crete harbour was machine gunned in 1943.
