He married Catherine (Euelet) Bloomfield on December 2, 1831 in Lewis County, KY, and had children James Bloomfield and Henry Bloomfield. Henry Bloomfield died at age 48 years old on August 10, 1858 in Lewis County, KY, and was buried at grave located where McDowell creek & Kinniconick Morgan Cemetery.

In 1809, in the year that Henry Bloomfield Jr. was born, on December 30th, Boston Massachusetts banned the wearing of masks at balls. Boston was following many other places - including England - by banning masked balls, which were considered to contribute to loose morals. After all, with masks, you couldn't tell the class of the person or even their gender! The law was extended in 1849 and repealed in 1963.

In 1814, he was only 5 years old when on September 14th, Francis Scott Key wrote what we now know as the lyrics of the Star-Spangled Banner while he watched the British attack on Fort McHenry in Baltimore Harbor. He originally wrote a poem titled "Defence of Fort M'Henry". The lyrics of the poem were then set to the tune of a popular English song. It wasn't until 1931 that the song became the official national anthem of the United States.
