Henry married Louisa Shaw in 1865 in Echuca and she was the first to be married in the pioneer river boat towns New Anglican Cathedral built 1865 Echuca. They had 9 children . Henrys death cert states his Father was John Robert Dawson ( Actually it was John Rowley Dawson& Mother was Ann Jackson which is correct however details about him being born in Sydney 1836 is not correct. He was born in London in 1831 and his father was a Clerk and he had a brother Walter born 1840 in London. Henry came to Australia in 1850 at age 23 on the ship" Kate" arriving Melbourne Australia 13th April .occupation given as- Carpenter. At some stage he arrived in the new pioneer settlement of Echuca. Echuca is a river town on the border of Victoria, and was building a Port to transport wool bales from the properties on the Murrumbidgee and Darling rivers in NSW by Paddle Steamers and Barges then offloaded to Melbourne on a new rail system which was also being Built at the same period . No doubt As a Carpenter Henry Dawson was involved in the building of the Wooden Warf which still stands today with some of the restored steam paddle steamers operating in the tourism industry as of now. All his 9 children were born in Echuca and he resided at 1Warren St. at his time of death. It is reasonable to say he missed his younger brother in England as his first born son was Named Walter Henry and one of his grandson was also called Walter. Henry also had an older sister Ann Kate Dawson Born 9th Jan. 1828 .Baptism date 10th Feb. 1828 at Saint Matthew. Bethnal Green London -Father John Rowley Dawson Mother Ann Kate Dawson

For some unknown reason details on his Marriage cert/ were not accurate regarding his parents or his details about being born in NSW 1836 E.G he was born in 1831 and his father was John Rowley Dawson. and he was not a Builder He was born in London not as the cert says. There is no history of him not being of good character and was obviously a good parent . His death certificate states he was 66 at his time of Death but actually it was 71 .
