Herbert Alexander Smibert was born in 1872 in Williamstown, City of Hobsons Bay County, Victoria Australia to James Smibert and Margaret Salmon (Caldwell) Smibert, and had siblings Grace Agnes Smibert, Alexander Smibert, James Caldwell Smibert, Kate Hay Smibert, Mary Morrison Smibert, Charles Ritchie Smibert, George Smibert, Charlotte Hay Smibert, and Isabella Margaret Smibert. He married Bertha Mary Smibert, and had a child Stillborn Baby Smibert. Herbert Smibert died at age 53 years old on January 4, 1926 in Toorak, City of Stonnington County, and was buried on January 5, 1926 at Brighton General Cemetery in Caulfield South, City of Glen Eira County.
