He had siblings Emily Maud Oxenham, Arthur Oxenham, and Annie Edith Oxenham. He married Ethel Hamilton (O'Reilly ) Oxenham, and had a child Betty Hamilton Oxenham. Herbert Oxenham died at age 63 years old on December 10, 1942 in St Kilda, Port Phillip City County.
