And for spending time with family. When he was born he was about 2lbs. and his Mother saved him by turning her stove into a sort of incubator.

    Homer W. Fitzjarrald age 90 of Colchester, passed away at 9:45 P.M. Saturday, May 28, 2011, at McDonough District Hospital in Macomb. He was born November 17, 1920 in Huntsville, Illinois to Ernest Larue and Anna Mae Roberts Fitzjarrald. He was united in marriage on October 22, 1943, in Tacoma, Washington to Leota Flo Phelps. Leota preceded him in death, on September 28, 2004, also Homer was preceded by his parents, 2 Brothers; Leeford and Warren Fitzjarrald and 1 Infant Sister. Surviving to mourn his passing are 4 Daughters; Marilyn and Bob Whitford, Judy K. and Lloyd Martin, Barb and Steve Steinhour, Brenda and Chris Hance, 8 Grandchildren; Sherry Whitford, Brad and Brook Whitford, Russ and Rita Schoonover, Rodney and Marie Schoonover, Randy and Marlene Schoonover, John and Debbie Peterson, Peggy and Mark Whitford and Andrea Hance, 15 Great Grandchildren: Mindy Akers, Sophie and Makenzie Whitford, Daniel, Darren, Dannielle, Chris, Ryan, Caitlyn, Kelsie and Kylie Schoonover, Nathan and Amanda Peterson, Paige Wilson and Jaden Hagemier, 3 Great Great Grandchildren: Dakoda, Chase and Decklin Schoonover, and 2 Brothers; Alva Fitzjarrald of Rushville and Ernie Fitzjarrald, Augusta. Homer had been employed at King Seeley in Macomb for 35 years, he was a World War II Navy Veteran, Member of the the Macomb V.F.W., and Macomb American Legion. Funeral Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, June 3, 2011, at Jones Mortuary in Colchester, with Rev. Don Riley. Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 P.M. Thursday at the the Funeral Home. Friends may view and sign the register book at the funeral home after 8:00 A.M. Thursday till time of services. Burial will take place at Mt. Auburn Cemetery in Colchester, with Military services at the Grave by the Macomb V.F.W. and Macomb American Legion.

Homer was a real family man and always treated his daughters with love and kindness. He will be remembered and loved for a long time. He was a hard worker and he also loved fishing and camping. He was famous for a cheesebait he made that could really catch a catfish. He and his wife enjoyed both of these activities as well as watching or listening to Cardinal baseball games on a regular basis. He was a good human being.
