  • Obituary

The Jerilderie Herald 13 September 1934. MR. HORACE NYE. The death occurred in the Melbourne Hospital on Friday last, 7th inst., of Mr. Horace Nye, of Jerilderie, after a lengthy illness. Deceased had been a sufferer with diabetes for the past twelve months or so, and some time ago went to Melbourne for treatment. About a week or more previous to his death he developed pneumonia, which was the primary cause of his demise. The late Mr. Nye was born at Gunbar, and came to this district with his parents some twenty years ago, when his father was managing Langtry Park in the South Coree portion of the district. The family left here many years ago, and deceased continued in residence here. In recent years he had followed the occupation of a drover and had a reputation as a trustworthy employee. In 1919 he married Miss Alma Cowhan, daughter of Mr and Mrs W. Cowhan, of Jerilderie. Deceased was of a quiet retiring disposition and generally liked by all who knew him, and the news of his death was received with regret, and sympathy extended to his wife in her sad bereavement. He was 51 years of age. His remains were interred in the Fawkner ( Vic.), cemetery, the funeral leaving his sister's residence on Saturday afternoon last. The Jerilderie Herald and Urana Advertiser 13 September 1934. NYE.- On the 7th September, at Melbourne, Horace, dearly beloved husband of Alma Nye, and loving brother of Edward ( Sydney ), Archie ( Barooga ), Arthur ( Sydney ), Catherine ( Mrs. Baker, Melbourne ), and Gordon ( Sydney ). Aged 51 years.
