Hortense Bivins' History: 1913 - 2002

Uncover new discoveries and connections today by sharing about people & moments from yesterday.
  • Introduction

Hortense Bivins was my Spanish teacher for two years and my senior English teacher during my last year in high school in the spring of 1954. She became my favorite teacher and my mentor. She was a beautiful lady, always dressed modesly but very stylish. She cared for her students and loved to see them succeed. I still think of her often and how much she meant to me. Were it not for her mentoring, I would not be the person I am today. She was indeed a person worth knowing.

He was president of the Society of American Magicians and stringently upheld professional ethics. He died of complications from a ruptured appendix. Although he had received a blow to the area a couple of days previously, the connection between the blow and his appendicitis is disputed.
