Hubert and Helen left Kansas in 1961 (or 1962) and moved to Long Beach, California with their adult children and grandchildren. The family lived all together in an apartment where Hubert and Helen managed the complex. Their son Bill and his family returned to Kansas while the others remained in California for some time.
They eventually settled in Garden Grove, CA and they both worked for the USPS. Helen was a mail carrier while Hubert was a janitor. They both enjoyed traveling around the country staying connected to a large group of friends and family.
Hubert regularly played golf and his hobby was the wood shop in his garage where he built and sold custom kitchen cabinets. Helen enjoyed sewing, cooking, baking and all things domestic.
When Hubert passed away, Helen sold the house and moved to Lufkin, TX for a few years before moving to Plainville, KS where she eventually passed away.
Hubert and Helen are buried together in Beloit, KS.
