During WWII, Hugh served in the Army AirCorp. He was as assigned to a British unit as a photographic interpreter. He was stationed in Italy & North Africa. He was discharged as a Lt. In 1945.
Professional Career

From 1945 to mid 1960's worked as a woodworker/carpenter/cabinet maker. He then worked as a draftsman at Dixie Lumber Company. Created blueprints for houses constructed locally.
Personal Life & Family

Always interested in drawing, in his late teens he drew plans for model airplanes and had 1 plan published in a model air plane magazine. In the early 1950's he began painting as a hobby, using oil paints as his medium of choice. His paintings sold quickly. In the early 1980"s he began doing detailed pen & ink drawings. Subject included trains, planes and local buildings, along with several animal . Later he had some of his drawings issued as limited edition lithographs.
