  • Introduction

Hugo Horst was my dad's uncle. His sister, Matilda Horst, was my dad's mother. They lived mostly in Kansas City, Mo. and Hugo moved to my dad's property on Crane Pond Road, off of Road E in Iron County, Mo. and was the caretaker of the 160 acres. I remember visiting him as a child and riding his horse in the early '50's. He also helped out as a "wrangler" at Camp Don Bosco severel miles away. He died alone, but my dad said that he paid him a "visit" on the night he died. I believe my dad.

Although he was deemed to be guilty of plotting against the U.S., he was not found to be guilty of an "overt act" - which is the Constitutional requirement to be met.
