Introduction

Ida was my grandmother. My favorite memory of her was my recollection of her sitting in her rocker, enjoying watching Lawrence Welk and Tennessee Ernie Ford on TV. She also did fair amount of traveling in her lifetime, some of it in a covered wagon. She was unfailingly kind and patient and she tried very hard (unsuccessfully, as it turned out) to teach me to crochet. She was one of four girls born into the Lamphere family, and she had nine children of her own, seven of whom survived into adulthood. She married Edward Evenson sometime in the early 1900s.
