She had siblings Harold James Maloney, Kathleen May Maloney, Frederick Joseph Aloysius Maloney, and William Thomas Maloney. She married Patrick Joseph Myers, and had children John Patrick Myers, Maurice Frederick Myers, Francis William Myers, and Mary Myers. Irene Myers died at age 79 years old in 1970 in Prestons, City of Liverpool County, NSW.

Boyce was so impressed that he incorporated the Boy Scouts of America when he returned home. Its purpose was "to teach boys patriotism, courage, self-reliance, and kindred values."
