Irene (Jones) Edmonds of Elsternwick, City of Glen Eira County, VIC Australia was born in 1903 in Foster, South Gippsland Shire County to Maude Mary (Mcgeorge) Jones and Oliver Alex Jones. She had a sister Olive Maud Jones. Irene Edmonds married Thomas Claude Reginald Edmonds in 1927, and died at age 72 years old on September 13, 1976 in Elsternwick, City of Glen Eira County.

Renamed the Department of Commerce 10 years later, many departments concerned with workers were transferred to the Department of Labor at that time. Another spin-off, the Bureau of Corporations, became the Federal Trade Commission.
