    Irving Louis Dunckelman is the son of Henry Ernest Dunckelmann and Louisa Marie Aline Javaux. He was white. His mother Louisa was born on December 17, 1900 in Woodhaven, Queens, New York and grew up in Queens, New York. She married Henry on April 15, 1918 in Bronx, New York and they lived in Richmond Hill, Queens, New York. She later re married on March 17, 1930 to Thomas Watkins Mott (1897–1935) at the French Evangelical Presbyterian Church in Woodhaven, Queens, New York. She passed away on February 17, 1957 in West Hempstead, Nassau, New York. His father was born July 31, 1898 in Manhattan, New York and grew up in Bronx, New York. He worked as an inspector for Moving Picture Machines in Manhattan and later moved to Richmond Hill, Queens, new York. He re married to Frieda Henrietta Daub (1907–1955) in 1930 in New Jersey. He passed away on November 13, 1979 in Utica, Oneida, New York.

In 1920, in the year that Irving Louis Dunckelman was born, Italian born factory worker Nicola Sacco and fish peddler Bartolomeo Vanzetti were picked up by police on May 5th in connection with the April 15th murder and robbery of a guard and a paymaster at the Slater and Morrill Shoe Company in South Braintree, Mass. Although in later years they were thought to be innocent, they were anarchists and were convicted of the crime and put to death.
