Jachnow, and had children Joanne Marie Nielsen Le Clair, Michael Irving Nielsen, Steven Richard Nielsen, and Katherine Mary Ann Nielsen Erskine. Irving Nielsen died at age 83 years old on January 24, 2016 at Penn Yan, NY.

Irving Richard served in the U.S. Army during the 1950s occupation of Berlin, Germany, where he met his wife, Brigitte Ingeborg Jachnow. They had four children, Joanne Marie (Le Clair), Michael Irving, and the twins Steven Richard and Katherine Mary Ann (Erskine). Irving worked for many years and became a foreman of several departments at Penn Yan Boats. After the collapse of that company, he worked in the maintenance department for Penn Yan Central Schools until he retired. Irving enjoyed hunting and fishing and was adept with home and motor repairs, always there to help family and friends.
