    Irvin Frank Mercer was born to Alfred Franklin Mercer (1872-1947) and Clara V. (Quisno) Mercer (1874-1956), and had siblings Monna (1900-1970), Ivan Alfred (born 1902), Myrna B. (Mercer) Curley (1905-1994), and Alfred Ray Mercer (1908-1980). Irvin married Garnet Marie Thompson (1906-1997) on April 17th 1927 in Lorain Ohio. According to his 1942 World War II draft card, Irvin was described as being 5 feet 5 1/2 inches tall and as weighing 148 pounds. He had brown eyes, gray hair, and a "light" complexion. He also had a sword tattoo on his right forearm and a burn scar on his upper right arm.

    KENTON - Irvin Mercer, 60, of Lorain, son-in-law of Mr. and Mrs. James Thompson of Kenton, died Tuesday night at Crile Veterans Hospital, Cleveland, following an illness of one year. He was a veteran of World War I. Surviving are his wife, the former Garnet Thompson of Kenton, and two brothers and sisters. Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at the Swartz Funeral Home in Lorain. Burial will be in Lorain. - The Marion Star Friday July 12th 1957 in Marion Ohio.
