Isabella (Barber) Saw of Geelong, Greater Geelong City County, VIC Australia was born on February 12, 1858 in Williamstown, City of Hobsons Bay County to George Frederick Augustus Barber and Isabella Anderson Saw. She had siblings Ann Maria Barber, Alfred Barber, Eliza Frances Barber Flanagan, Martha Barber, and George Alexander Barber. She married Thomas Charles Augustus Saw in 1880, and had children William Charles Saw, Thomas Henry Saw, George Henry Saw, Ada Elizabeth (Saw) Plier, Louisa Jane Saw, Lily Saw, Rose Saw, Edwin James Saw, and Edith May Saw. Isabella Saw died at age 62 years old on September 9, 1920 in Geelong, Greater Geelong City County.

In 1858, in the year that Isabella (Barber) Saw was born, on October 28th, Macy's department store opened in New York City. Founded by Rowland Hussey Macy, it was at first a dry goods store - essentially a store that sold textiles, ready-to-wear clothing, and sundries

In 1888, she was 30 years old when on August 7th, the body of a prostitute was found in the Whitechapel section of London. Martha Tabram had been stabbed 39 times - a possible but not confirmed victim of Jack the Ripper. On August 31st, the body of Mary Ann Nichols was found - stabbed and mutilated. On September 8th, the body of Annie Chapman was found - throat slit and disemboweled. On September 30th, Elizabeth Stride, also a prostitute in Whitechapel, was found dead from a slit throat. Within an hour, another body was discovered - Catherine Eddowes'. She was far more savagely murdered and it is thought that the Ripper had more time with her. Then, on November 9th, the body of prostitute Mary Jane Kelly was found in a boarding room in Whitechapel. Considered to be the probable fifth, and last, of Jack the Ripper's victims, Kelly's was the most savage of his murders.
