    Treasurer of the United States. Born in Kimberly, Utah, she began her public political career in 1932, as a delegate to the GOP Utah State convention. During the 1940s, she served for several years as Utah's Republican National Committeewoman and was credited with the successful drive to get out the women's vote for President Dwight Eisenhower's victory in 1952. In 1953, President Eisenhower appointed her the 30th Treasurer of the United States, serving until 1961. After her eight years in national office, she continued her political career by being the first woman elected California State Treasurer in 1966 and served until her death from cancer at age 69 in Santa Monica, California. Ivy Baker Priest was born on September 7, 1905 in Kimberly, Utah, USA. She was previously married to Sidney William Stevens and Roy Fletcher Priest. She died on June 23, 1975 in Santa Monica, California, USA. Mother of Pat Priest. Republican nominee in 1950 for Utah's Second Congressional District. Director, Women's Division, Republican National Committee, 1952. Nominated Gov. Ronald Reagan of California for president at the Republican National Convention, Miami Beach, Fla., on August 7, 1968. California State Treasurer, 1967-1975. Treasurer of the United States, 1953-1961.
