    Izaak (Jaques) Van Tijn was the son of Samuel Van Tijn and Sipora Batavier Van Tijn. He had a sister Ina and a brother Salomon Louis (Sallo). His mother and father were concentration camp survivors, however both of their immediate families were murdered in the camps. The Van Tijn name is quite common and there are many men named Izaak who also go by Jacques or have Jacques as a middle name. The only way to be sure of reference to the correct Izaak is by date of birth/death and parent names. Izaak was named after his father's father Izaak Van Tijn born 1870, died 1936. His father Samuel was born on December 22, 1903 in The Hague, South Holland, Netherlands. He died on June 7, 1972 in Utrecht, Netherlands. His mother Sipora was born April 5, 1913 in Aarlanderveen, Alphen aan den Rijn, Zuid-Holland, Netherlands. She died on July 16, 1996 in Amsterdam, North Holland Netherlands. Her whole family died in Auschwitz and Sobibor. She was the only survivor. It is unknown if Izaak every married or had children. He was 62 years old at the time of death.

    Izaak's father, Samuel Van Tijn was born on December 22, 1903 in The Hague, South Holland. He died June 7, 1972 in Utrecht Netherlands. He was 68 years old.. Samuel's parents were Izaak Van Tijn (born June 3, 1870 in Sliedrecht, South Holland- died March 13, 1936 in Hilversum North Holland) and Saartje Van Meer (born October 4, 1877 in The Hague, South Holland - died January 14, 1943 in Auschwitz Extermination Camp). Samuel had three brothers: Alexander Van Tijn - born August 19, 1902 in The Hague, South Holland, died May 7, 1943 in Sobibor extermination camp) Louis Van Tijn - born August 25, 1905 in The Hague, South Holland - died November 30, 1943 in Dorohucza concentration camp in Lublin Poland. He married Rachel Lubinski, daughter of Abram Lubinski and Esther Cyn. Rachel was born January 17, 1907 and died on May 14, 1943 in Sobibor concentration camp. They had two children: Esther, born September 21, 1934 in Utrecht Netherlands, died May 14, 1943 in Sobibor concentration camp. And Izaak Van Tijn born August 1938 in Groningen Netherlands, died May 14, 1943 in Sobibor concentration camp. Joel Van Tijn - born January 25, 1908 in Utrecht Netherlands, died March 31, 1944 at an undisclosed concentration camp in Poland Izaak's mother was Sipora Batavier Van Tijn. She was born April 5, 1913 and died on July 16, 1996 at age 83. Her father was Salomon Batavier and his mother was Naatje Menist Batavier. Both of Sipora's parents died on September 10, 1942 in Auschwitz. Sipora married Samuel Van Tijn on October 11, 1939 when she was 25 and gave birth to three children Izaak, Salomon, and Ina as listed above. Sipora had two brothers: Her brother Emanuel Batavier born June 5, 1910 in Oss Oss North Brabant Netherlands and died September 30, 1942 in Auschwitz. He was a typesetter. He was married to Henriette Cardoza and they had two little girls Nanny and Elly ages 6 and 3 who were murdered in Sobibor with their mother Henriette on July 23, 1943. Her brother Jacob Batavier was born October 13, 1915 in South Holland and died January 31, 1944 in Auschwitz with his wife Femmetje Wrms Batavier.
