Jack Alton Wegener Sr. was born to John Vincente Wegener (1898 - 1986) and Thelma Hatte Poythress (1900 - 1992). He had one brother, John Vincent Wegener Jr. (1922 - 1996). Jack enlisted in the United States Navy on September 7, 1944 and he was discharged on June 4, 1946. He was a veteran of World War II. Jack A. Wegener married Irene Cornelius Branch (1927 - 1988).

A native of Savannah, Georgia, Jack was raised in Atlanta until the age of 9, when his family returned to Savannah. After World War II, Jack went to live in Auburn, Alabama, where he remained a decade then moved again to Savannah. When he was 42, Jack moved to Orange, California, and he died in Mount Dora, Florida.

Jack attended Alabama Polytechnic Institute in Auburn, Alabama and Auburn University, also in Auburn.

A veteran of World War II, Jack enlisted in the United States Navy on September 7, 1944 and he was discharged on June 4, 1946.

In 1950, after World War II, Jack was a general contractor in Savannah Georgia. In 1955, he was listed as working at Wegener & Sons.

Jack was married. There is no record of children from that marriage.
