Jacob Silberberg of West Palm Beach, Palm Beach County, FL was born on July 7, 1907 to Samuel Silberberg and Sarah Silberberg. He had siblings Sidney Silberberg, Bernard Silberberg, Rebecca Silberberg Berger, and Evelyn Silberberg Wolfson. He married Esta Katz Silberberg, and had children Steven Harris Silberberg and Ilene Silberberg Harsip. Jacob Silberberg died at age 73 years old in January 1981.

In 1915, when he was just 8 years old, The Birth of a Nation opened in February. A silent film, it was the most ambitious film to date and is considered a classic. Three hours long, it starred Lillian Gish and was directed by D. W. Griffith. The movie was based on the book The Clansman and told the story of two families (one pro-Union and one pro-Confederate) and their relationship during the Civil War and Reconstruction. The KKK was shown as "a heroic force".
