Jacob William Gillett of Lara Australia was born on April 2, 1844 in Baltonsborough, Somerset County, England United Kingdom to Eliza Pester Gillett and William Gillett. He had siblings Rachel Trevena Gillett, James Gillett, Mary Gillett, Elizabeth Gillett, and John Gillett. He married Caroline Grass Gillett on April 20, 1870 in Geelong, Greater Geelong City County, VIC Australia, and had a child Vivian Rupert Gillett. Jacob Gillett died at age 86 years old on August 18, 1930 in Geelong, and was buried on August 18, 1930 at Rothwell Cemetery Little River in Little River.
