Jacob Yakle 1870 - 1953

Jacob Yakle was born on August 5, 1870 in Illinois United States to Andrew Yakle and Anna Yakle. He married Hattie (Bruckner) Yakle on February 25, 1897 in Delavan, Morris Co County, KS and they later divorced. They had children Abbie P (Yakle) Parsons, Erma Rose (Yakle) Darrington, Harry F Yakle, Alfred C Yakle, Helen Evelyn (Yakle) Ramsey, and Thelma Lucille (Yakle) Hilton. He also married Mary A (Hoag) Yakle, and they had a child Jacob K Yakle. Jacob Yakle died at age 82 years old on July 21, 1953 in west of Burdick, Dickinson Co County, KS, and was buried on July 26, 1953 at Delavan Cemetery in Delavan, Morris Co County.

    Herington Advertiser Times, Thursday July 30, 1953 page 2 Sec. A JACOB YAKLE JACOB YAKLE, 82, BURIED SUNDAY The body of Jacob Yakle, pioneer settler of this area, was found Saturday afternoon at his home west of Burdick. Having not appeared in Burdick for several days, friends went to the Yakle house to find him dead. He would have been 82, Aug. 5. Morris Co., coroner J.E. Bowers said death was of natural causes and Yakle had probably been dead since July 20. Coming from his birth place in Illinois with his parents, Yakle lived since early childhood with his parents near Wilsey and Delavan. In 1947 he moved to Burdick. He was married in 1897 and was the father of 7 children, one by a former marriage. All of the children survive him including 5 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Graveside services were held in Delavan Cemetery Jan. 26 with Rev. Omer Stanton officiating. Puryear Mortuary was in charge of arrangements.
