    Jakob O. Leikvoll, 74, of Summer Hill Glen, Maynard, died Tuesday, April 26 at Emerson Hospital, Concord. He was born in Austrheim, Norway, son of the late Anton and Olga (Stromsoy) Leikvoll. A resident of Massachusetts over 30 years, he was an executive chef in the hotel and restaurant business and had lived in Maynard for the past fifteen years. He leaves three daughters: Irene of Massachusetts, Ondrea of Maryland and Esther of Norway; two sons Kenneth of Norway and Olaf of Maryland; six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren, a brother Oscar Leikvoll and a sister Bjorg Mjors both of Norway. The family will be holding a private memorial. Burial will be in Norway. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions be made to the American Lung Association, 460 Totten Pond Road, Waltham, MA 02451. In 1945, when he was merely 8 years old, on March 12th, a riot erupted at a Japanese internment camp in Santa Fe New Mexico. Two days earlier, white shirts with the Rising Sun on the back had been confiscated and the prisoners objected. Three leaders of the protest were removed and sent to another camp. Guards at the Santa Fe camp were armed with submachine guns, shotguns, and gun masks. On the morning of the 12th, prisoners began throwing rocks at the guards. When the "rioters" wouldn't disperse, the guards were ordered to use tear gas and batons. Four men were badly injured as a result.
