    James Bernard Mccreanor is the son of Frank McCreanor Senior (1882-1942) and Rose Cassidy (1879-1938). He was born on September 18, 1905 in Niles, Trumbull, Ohio and had siblings Frank McCreanor Jr (1907-1981), Joseph Mccreanor (1909-), Eulalia Mccreanor (1910-1984), Dolores Mccreanor (1914-1979), Paul McCreanor (1915-1954), Raymond Mccreanor (1917-1982), and Quinton McCreanor (1921-2003). He married Nettie B Staib (1918–) on July 24, 1940 in Kernstown, Virginia, USA. Shortly after getting married, James McCreanor registered for the draft on October 16, 1940, at the age of 35 in Warren, Ohio. Prior to his military service, James was employed at Ohio Lamp Works, showcasing his commitment to his civilian occupation. On November 6, 1942, James made the courageous decision to enlist in the military. He joined the Selectees (Enlisted Men) component with no branch assignment, indicating his flexibility and adaptability to various roles within the armed forces. His terms of enlistment stated that he would serve for the duration of the war or any other emergency, plus an additional six months, subject to the discretion of the President or as per the law.
