James Edwin Cole of 1707 N Ruston Ave., in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, Indiana United States was born on January 28, 1915 at Florence Crittenden Home in Indianapolis, Marion County to Edwin Horace Cole and Charlotte Josephine (Brown) Cole. James Cole died at age 94 years old on March 17, 2009 at St. Mary's Hospital Washington Ave., in Evansville, Vanderburgh County, and was buried circa March 21, 2009 at Sunset Funeral Home, Cremation Center & Cemetery 1800 St George Rd, in Evansville.

His grandmother was Sabra Victoria Hall, she was born in Romney Indiana, was a long time Indianapolis resident and died in Collinsville. His mother was Charlotte Lottie Brown. She was born in Montgomery Indiana, she was a long time Evansville resident. His grandparents were Arnold Benjamin Brown and Ida Smith. Both of them died early.

He wasn't loud about his faith but he lived it out and knew Jesus as his Savior, for about 35 years he attended a Presbyterian church, then a Congregational church, a Cumberland Presbyterian church, and at the end of his life he attended Christian Fellowship Church.

In 1915, in the year that James Edwin Cole was born, in May, the RMS Lusitania was sunk by a German torpedo. The Lusitania was a British passenger ship that was sailing from New York to Liverpool England. She sank in 18 minutes - 1,198 died and 761 survived. While travelers were the main casualty - and commodity - the Lusitania did carry wartime weapons. "Remember the Lusitania" became the rallying cry of World War 1.
