Hemet James Kemp: Newspaper Obituary and Death Notice Press-Enterprise, The (Riverside, CA) - Monday, May 10, 1999 Deceased Name: Hemet James Kemp Services for James Fenton Kemp, 90, will be at 10 a.m. today at Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on Park Hill in Hemet. He died Wednesday at his Hemet home. The cause of death is undetermined pending a doctor's report. Burial will be in Rose Hills Memorial Park in Whittier. Miller-Jones Mortuary in Hemet is handling arrangements.

Jim and Daniel Kemp on a road trip circa 1910s? Yep, road trips in the early 1900s were different! So is that water in the jug? Or corn likker? Or . . . ?

MFK Fisher wrote about taking a car trip in Southern California when she was about 8, so 1916ish, which of course was just desert then. She mentioned carrying jugs of water for her and her sister and the car, and beer for the parents which exploded in the heat. Also had four flat tires which her dad thought was pretty good, apparently.
