    Jim was born July 18, 1927 in Oconto Falls, WI the son of Clarence and Esther Graham Harteau. On January 6, 1951 he married Marcine Mocco in Manitowoc. Following their marriage they lived in Oconto Falls until 1956 and then moved to Waupun. Jim was a Merchant Marine who worked on ore boats on the Great Lakes for eight years before becoming employed by the State of Wisconsin as a correctional officer. He worked at Central State Hospital and later at Dodge Correctional Institution and retired in 1984. Jim was a veteran of the US Navy, having served during WWII in the Philippines. Jim was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. Jim is survived by his wife, Marcine Harteau of Waupun; a daughter, Linda (Rick) Roedl of Waupun; two sons, Jeff (Sue) Harteau of North Fond du Lac and Thomas Harteau of Waupun; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Marjorie Pate of Pulaski, WI. In 1937, at the age of just 10 years old, James was alive when on May 6th, the German zeppelin the Hindenburg caught fire and blew up. The Hindenburg was a passenger ship traveling to Frankfurt Germany. It tried to dock in New Jersey, one of the stops, and something went wrong - it blew up. Thirty-six people were killed out of the 97 on board - 13 passengers, 22 crewmen, and one ground worker. The reasons for the explosion are still disputed.
