He married Ella Vincent (Stacey) Symons, and had children Alan James Symons, Jean Symons, and Frederick Symons. James Symons died at age 79 years old on July 5, 1962 in Preston, City of Darebin County, VIC Australia, and was buried at Coburg Pine Ridge Cemetery Elizabeth St, in Preston.
