He married Eliza Brock Waterland in 1889, and had children Alice Maud Waterland, Ernest James Waterland, Ivy Waterland, Catherine Rosina Waterland, Annie Waterland, and James Henry Waterland Jr.. James Waterland died at age 41 years old in 1906 in Lancefield.

    James Henry Waterland is the son of John Thomas Waterland (1842-1916) and Catherine Margaret Kelly (1845-1917). He was born in 1895 in Romsey, Victoria, Australia and had siblings Laurence Godfrey (1867-?), John Godfrey (1867-1895), Mary Martha (1869-1869), Edward (1875-1875), Herbert (1876-1929), George Godfrey (1876-1934), Rose Florence (1879-1909), Lilly Louisa (born 1881), Alice May (born 1889), and George Waterland (died 1871). He married Eliza Brock (1866-1942) in 1889 and they had children Alice Maude (1892-1969), Ernest James (1894-1960), Ivy Evelyn (1898-1959), Cath Rosina (born 1901), Annie (1904-1976), and James Henry Waterland Jr (1907-1981).
