    James Irving Gumbines, or Gumbiner, was born to Isidore Harry Gumbiner (1875 - 1968) and Jeanette "Jenny" Gumbines (born 1891). His father was born in Illinois and his mother was born in New York. James had one sister, Ethel May Gumbiner (born 1917). James Gumbiner married Ethelyn Miller (1922 - 1977) and they had three children: two daughters and a son, John, Terry, and Cathy. James then married Ruth A.
