James Louis Vonsick is the son of Joseph Aloysius Vonsick Sr (1897-1970) and Lillian Catherine Schardein Vonsick (1896-1968). He was born on February 21, 1924 in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky, USA and had siblings Ellen Frances (1919-2010), Joseph Aloysius Jr (1921-1993), and Norma Jane Vonsick (1935-2011). He spent his life living in Louisville, Jefferson, Kentucky, USA and married Vera Lynn Downing (1919-1983) in Clark, Indiana, USA. They had a daughter, Nancy Catherine Vonsick Owen (1947-2021). James worked as a mechanic for International Harvester and was an Army veteran of World War II.

The Courier-Journal, Tuesday, 1/11/1972. JAMES L. VONSICK died at 5 a.m. Monday in his home at 2124 W. Burnett. Deputy Coroner Henry Burchett said he died of an apparent heart attack. He formerly worked for International Harvester as a mechanic. He had been ill several years. Vonsick, 48, was an Army veteran of World War II. Surviving are a daughter, Miss Nancy C. Vonsick; and a son, James E. Vonsick. The funeral will be at 9 a.m. Wednesday in St. George Catholic Church, 1410 Dixie Highway, with burial in St. Michael Cemetery.
