He was in a relationship with Elizabeth Corbin (Hayward) Laby, and had children Thomas James Laby, Priscilla (Laby) Love, Joseph Henry Laby, Anna Maria (Laby) Wilkinson, John Laby, and William Hayward Laby. James Laby died at age 82 years old in 1850 in Cincinnati, Hamilton County, Ohio United States.
