He had siblings Maud Kath Mcsweeney, Emily May Mcsweeney, Clara Sylvia Mcsweeney, Richard Mcsweeney, and Emily May Allsop. James Mcsweeney died at age 27 years old on December 29, 1944, and was buried at Labuan Memorial Panel 16. in Malaysia.
