    Born: November 29 1950, Portsmouth, Scioto County, Ohio Died: May 19, 2000, Walnut Creek, Contra Costa County, California "11/29/1950-05/19/2000. Jim passed away peacefully at his Walnut Creek CA home with his partner & lover of 18 years, Brent Hayrynen, & his faithful dog Harvey, at his side. He had fought a brave battle against HIV since his 1985 diagnosis. Jim had lived in the Bay Area (San Francisco, Daly City, & Walnut Creek) for over 20 years & loved every minute of it. Jim was a computer programmer, but music was his passion; he was a proud member of the San Francisco Gay Men's Chorus & an accomplished pianist. He was a founding member of the Contra Costa County Rainbow Community Ctr. Jim was preceded in death by his mother [Francis Nardi Russell]. Besides Brent, Jim is survived by his father & stepmother [John & Pat Russell] & sister [Margaret Warnock (Gary)], Portsmouth OH; a brother [Robert Russell (Betty)], Colorado Springs CO; a sister [Catherine Russell (Spencer Cunningham)], Phoenix AZ; 3 nephews & 1 niece. Jim's integrity, honesty, loyalty & loving ways will be missed by all who knew him."
