James Sainty 1892 - 1965

James Sainty was born in 1892 to Joseph Bryant Sainty and Jessie (Cowan) Sainty, and had siblings Herbert John Sainty, Roy Joseph Sainty, Raymond Onslow Saintly, and Vera Jessie Saintly. He married Catherine Phyllis (Bland) Sainty on July 1, 1916 at St Martin's Anglican Church in Kensington, Randwick City Council County, New South Wales Australia, and they were married until death separated them. James Sainty died at age 73 years old in 1965.

In 1892, in the year that James Sainty was born, on August 4th, the father and stepmother of Lizzie Borden were found murdered. Lizzie was accused of the crime and on June 20th of the next year, she was acquitted of murder by a jury. But she was never acquitted in the public mind.

In 1906, James was just 14 years old when abolitionist and suffragette leader Susan B. Anthony died, before women's right to vote nationally was realized (in 1920). She, along with Elizabeth Cady Stanton, founded the National American Woman Suffrage Association which later became the League of Women Voters. She died at the age of 86 of heart failure and pneumonia in her home in New York.
