Dr. James Jeremiah married Ruby Ursula Lathrop (1915 - 1991) on October 1, 1936 in Springville, Pennsylvania. They had four children, Lois Anne, David Paul, Maryalyce, and James Daniel Jeremiah. James later married Ethel J. Rayburn (1917 - 2010) on March 28, 1994.

He was also the Chairman of the Ohio Association of Regular Baptist Churches, the Chairman of Fellowship of Baptists for Home Missions, and a board member of Baptist Bible Institute in Cleveland, Ohio. In addition, he was President of Cedarville College; Cedarville, Ohio and then Chancellor at the same college.
