James Taylor Stocks 1864 - 1936

James Taylor Stocks was born in 1864 in Bendigo, Greater Bendigo City County, VIC Australia to Edward Stocks and Ann (Taylor) Stocks. He was in a relationship with Eliza (George) Stocks, and had children James Edwin Stocks, Olive Ann (Stocks) Boyd, Ernest Albert Stocks, and Leslie George Stocks. James Stocks died at age 72 years old in 1936.

    The Age, Melbourne. 23rd March 1936. - OBITUARY. -Mr. James Taylor STOCKS.- Mr. James Taylor Stocks, of Boundary-road, Burwood, collapsed and died at the wheel of his car yesterday morning. Born in Bendigo 72 years ago he had resided in the Burwood district all his life. He was a member of Mulgrave shire council for 45 years, and was twice president. He was also a trustee of the Burwood Meth- odist Church. He is survived by three daughters and two sons.

It mandated that "In God We Trust" was to be placed on all United States coins and created a 2 cent coin. Later - in 1956 - "In God We Trust" replaced "E Pluribus Unum" - which means out of many, one - as the national motto.
