James Thomas Behe Sr. was born on November 3, 1923 in Pennsylvania United States to Matilda Marie (Plunket) Behe and Edwin John Behe, Sr., and had siblings Edwin John Behe, Jr., Madeline Catherine (Behe) Kinsel, John Joseph Behe, Dorothy Mae (Behe) Adams, Marie Ellen (Behe) Minster, Margaret Behe, and Josephine M. Behe. He was the father of James Thomas "Jim" Behe, Jr., Ronald "Ron" Behe, Chris (Behe) McFarlane, and Susan (Behe) Phillips. James Behe died at age 87 years old on September 2, 2011 in Orlando, Orange County, FL.

    BEHE, JAMES THOMAS, passed away Friday, September 2, 2011 in Orlando, FL at the age of 87. He was born in Altoona, PA. He moved to Orlando, FL in 1957. He served in the Navy in World War II and participated in the Normandy invasion on Utah beach. He worked for the Pennsylvania Railroad, Prudential and Metropolitan insurance companies and owned an ice cream business then worked and retired from Merita Bakery as a route salesman and in his spare time enjoyed golf and bowling. He is survived by sister, Josephine Behe of Orlando, FL.; son, Jim Behe and wife, Theresa of Deltona, FL, son, Ron Behe and wife Cathy of Clermont, FL; daughter, Chris McFarlane and husband, Jack of Murfreesboro, TN, daughter Susan Phillips and husband Scott of Ringgold, GA; 14 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren. Services will be held at Woodlawn Cemetery, 400 Woodlawn Cemetery Road Gotha, FL 34734, at 1:30 PM on Tuesday, September 6, 2011.

It provided an audience measurement system that could provide radio station owners with information on their listeners and the popularity of their shows. In 1934, when he was merely 11 years old, on June 6th, the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission was formed as a response to the stock market crash of 1929 and the continuing Great Depression. Previously, the states regulated the offering and sales of stocks - called "blue sky" laws. They were largely ineffective. Roosevelt created a group (one member was Joseph Kennedy, father of the future President Kennedy) who knew Wall Street well and they defined the mission and operating mode for the SEC. The new organization had broad and stringent rules and oversight and restored public confidence in the stock market in the United States.
