Introduction

Jami Zabka Boarman was a truly special person. She was kind, respectful of others, driven to educate our youth, intellectually curious, humorous, and had an infectious smile. She was a wonderful mother and an incredible life companion. Her guiding Moto was that "life is a gift, make the most of it, each day".

Upon graduation from Batavia High School, Jami acquired an associates degree in Physical Therapy from the University of Evansville. Given her desire to work with children and a struggle with bringing discomfort to the elderly during physical therapy, she made a career change and completed her coursework and certification in Montessori Education. She worked part time as a Montessori teacher at Mansio Mens Montessori School in Geneva IL. Upon a move to Colorado and as a stay-home Mom, Jami would share here philosophy of education with friends. She was strongly encouraged to start a school to put her beliefs to work. Jami then founded The Montessori School of Parker, later renamed Parker Montessori Educational Institute (PMEI). The school grew out of her home as she developed a commercial property and expanded the school to cover ages Toddler through 6th grade. Along the way, being a life long learner, Jami secured a BA in Education and a MA in Developmental Psychology and Education. As life had become hectic and a break was in order, she passed the reins to a fellow associate and took some well earned time for herself. As her energy renewed, she took a principle position at Compass Montessori, a public charter school, in Jefferson County, Colorado. She served in that capacity for 6 years before retiring to pursue some writing projects. Jami held great pride for the stakeholders she had the privilege to work with, as they grew themselves, served youth and community. She was a wonder to behold. Her ethics were her compass and her infectious energy for education was the driving force in every endeavor. She truly found her calling in life.
