Jane (Milroy) Bowman of Dutchess County, New York United States was born on October 8, 1842 in Kingston, Frontenac County, ON Canada to Robert Milroy and Mary (Carmichael) Milroy. She had siblings William C. Milroy, Alexander Milroy, Jessie Watt Milroy, James C. Milroy, John Cornelius Milroy, and Lafayette J. Milroy. She married John S. Bowman on February 17, 1859, and they were married until John's death in 1906. She had children Otis M. Bowman, Elma (Bowman) Simmons, Mary (Bowman) Duncan, and Louisa Bowman. Jane Bowman died at age 95 years old on March 6, 1938 in Dutchess County, New York United States, and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery in Pine Plains.

BOWMAN Mrs. Jane Milroy Bowman, widow of John Bowman died at her home near La Fayetteville on Sunday, March 6, after a short illness from a heart attack. Had she lived until October 8, she would have been 96 years of age. She was born in Canada, a daughter of Robert and Mary Carmichael Milroy. At the age of two years she came with her parents from New York to Milan, where she had always resided since. She was a member of the Milan Christian Church. Surviving her are two daughters, Mrs. Elma Simmons and Mrs. Mary Duncan and one son, Otis Bowman, all residing at the Bowman homestead; four grandchildren, Mrs. Franklin Triebel, of Red Hook, Harrison Simmons, of Stanfordville, Mrs. Fernando Wirehouse, of La Fayetteville, Edwin Bowman, who lives at the homestead and several great grandchildren; two brothers, James Milroy, of Rhinebeck and La Fayette Milroy, of Hyde Park and a number of nieces and nephews. Funeral services were held Wednesday from her late home, conducted by the Rev. David Freer, pastor of the Schultzville Congregational-Christian Church. The bearers were Winfred Herrick, Malcolm Simmons, Roswell Simmons, Warren Simmons, great grandchildren, Edward Bowman and Harrison Simmons, grandchildren of the deceased. The burial was in the Evergreen Cemetery at Pine Plains, under the direction of Frank Roberts and sons, of Pine Plains. =========================================================================== Obituary #2 MRS. JANE BOWMAN Funeral services for Mrs. Jane Bowman, wife of the late John S. Bowman, were held from her home near Lafayetteville last Wednesday afternoon. The Rev. David Freer, pastor of the Congregational Christian church of Schultzville, officiated. Burial was in the Evergreen cemetery, Pine Plains. Bearers were grandsons and great-grandsons. Mrs. Bowman died at her home last Sunday, March 6. She was 95 years old, the daughter of Robert and Mary Carmichael Milroy. She moved to New York city with her parents shortly after her birth and at the age of two years came to Lafayetteville, where she resided practically all her life. She became the bride of John S. Bowman in 1859. Four children, Otis Bowman, Mrs. Elma Simmons, Mrs. Mary Duncan and Louisa, who died in infancy in 1868, were born to them. Her husband died in 1906. Surviving are two brothers, James Milroy of Rhinebeck and Lafayette Milroy of Hyde Park; three children, several nephews and nieces; four grandchildren, Edward Bowman, Harrison Simmons, Mrs. Fernando Wirehouse of Milan and Mrs. Franklin Triebel of Red Hook; thirteen great-grandchildren, Malcolm, Roswell and Warren Simmons, Edward Jr. and Robert Bowman of Milan, Donald, LeRoy, Charles and Audrey Triebel of Red Hook; Winifred and Helen Herrick of Red Hook, Mrs. Homer Staley of Rhinebeck and Harold Herrick of Long Island; one great-great-grandson, Richard E. Herrick of Long Island. Mrs. Bowman was a member of the West Pine Plains Christian church. She attended school where her two Bowman great-grandsons now attend. Four generations resided at the homestead before the passing of Mrs. Bowman. She was born in Kingston, Canada, October 8, 1842, a daughter of the late Robert and Mary Carmichal Milroy. Mrs. Bowman had been a resident of Milan for 92 years, and was a member of the Milan Christian Church. Surviving are three children, Mrs. Elma Simmons, Mrs. Mary Duncan and Otis Bowman, with whom she resided; two grandsons, Harrison Simmons and Edward Bowman, both of Milan; two granddaughters, Mrs. Fernando Wirehouse of Lafayetteville and Mrs. Franklin Triebel of Red Hook; thirteen great grand children. Malcolm, Roswell and Warren Simmons of Milan, Harold, Helen and Wenfred (sic. - Winfred) Herrick of Long Island, Gertrude Staley of Rhinebeck, Donald, Leroy and Charles Triebel of Red Hook, and Edward and Robert Bowman of Milan, and one great-great grand child; also two brothers, Lafayette Milroy of Hyde Park and James Milroy of Rhinebeck. Funeral services were conducted on Wednesday afternoon at 1:30 from her home with the Rev. David Freer, pastor of the Shultzville Christian church, officiating. Burial was in Evergreen cemetery under the direction of Frank S. Roberts and son. Four generations of her family had lived in the house in which she died. Surviving are a son, Otis Bowman of Rhinecliff; two daughters, Elma Simmons and Mrs. Mary Duncan of Schultzville. Mrs. Bowman and her daughter, Mrs. Duncan, for several years lived in Wassaic, occupying the house now owned by Mrs. Kathryn Maroney.
